Taste of The Caribbean L.A.

Description:

Chef Bernard James brings diverse flavors of the Caribbean to every dish he creates. Originally from the South American country of Guyana, which has strong cultural connections to the Caribbean, Bernard has been immersed in West Indian food and cooking since his childhood. He learned the basic techniques and styles of authentic Caribbean cuisine while helping his grandmother prepare meals for his large extended family.

His passion for food led to a career as a sous chef aboard Carnival Cruise Line- where he was trained by several world-class chefs. During his time off, he explored and researched the rich culinary history of the islands of the Caribbean. He also made his first investment in a family-owned restaurant in Guyana.

Bernard opened his first restaurant, Corlette NY in Brooklyn, NY in 2007. In 2014, he moved to Los Angeles, CA and opened Taste of the Caribbean LA. Taste of the Caribbean LA takes diners on a culinary journey to the West Indies, with modern cuisine.

What started out as a food truck in 2014, quickly blossomed into the only Caribbean restaurant in the heart of Hollywood. The mission is to share the diverse and authentic flavors of the region in a warm, relaxing atmosphere, that transports guests from Hollywood Boulevard to the shores of the Caribbean Islands
